Quotes of the day:
Macey asked me this while flipping through my haircut magazine so I have no idea where this came from- "Mom, what do you like better? The News or Winn Dixie (the movie)?"
Macey while watching Dora's World Adventure- "I like China, I want a China outfit."
Macey says this to me while I'm making some coffee- "I need to wake up, I need coffee too"
ps. update on the pink overalls- Thanks to Karen for finding some while outlet shopping!!! She can't wait to get them. You should have seen her face when I told her about them :)
Picture of the day:
Does anyone know why Kelsey's cheeks would be THIS rosey? Are they chapped? They are usually smooth and soft to the touch. It comes and goes throughout the day.....she goes to the doctor on Wednesday and I'm going to ask him then. It started about a week ago and is getting worse.

Jen,
It looks like Kelsey has eczema. The daughter of another friend of mine had it as an infant and had the same redness Kelsey does. Her checks and nose where red for a long time. The cold weather will make it worse too. Many kids with EB also have eczema and use something called Emu Oil on it. It helps with the redness and itchness if there is any. You can find it on line. Just make sure its 100% emu oil. It is quite expensive though (we have a 6 oz bottle and it retailed for $45.00!) but a little goes a long way and a small bottle will last a long time!
I also read that those red cheeks could be related to an infection and could be due to her pneumonia, also there is quite a bit of literature that says it could be related to dribbling while teething but it definately could be eczema or roseola, also related to an infection, so you will for sure want to ask the MD about it.
Winn Dixie......mmmmmmmm I have never even heard of it, the movie I mean, that girl is way ahead of me. I am so excited that Karen found her pink overalls...I guess the next hunt will be for a China suit
PS...they have emu oil at Trader Joe's, I know you don't have them in Michigan but we have them all over in Portland and they are also in Chicago. Jean or I could get you some, hold off on paying 45.00 as it is a fraction of the price at TJ. I might even have some here in the house, I will look, just like Sara says, it has to be 100% emu
thanks Aunt Carol and Sara, I will hold off on buying the expensive Emu Oil until I talk with the doctor just so I'm not wasting money. Hopefully that will help and I can find it cheap if I need it. Her skin so far is a LOT more sensitive compared to Macey's. She gets diaper rash like crazy as well. Poor girl.
does look like eczema to me too. Braden got it for the 1st time around Kelsey's age. Often it can be an allergic reaction to something she is eating. Usually a fruit, for braden it was blueberries. I found this eczema cream at meijer/target after spending a ton of money on stuff that never worked that our pediatrician told us to get. It's by Gentle Naturals, it has a green cap and it has baby winnie the pooh charaters on it. I use it for Aubrey as well since she is a stomach sleeper and her cheeks get dried out from the acid in her drool. It's the only thing that worked for both kids..it is maybe 5-6 dollars..not that expensive $45 dollar stuff. Usually they grow out of it by a year, but we still use it sometimes on Bradens face in the winter.
Winn Dixie maybe?!?
I think that Lyndsey uses that stuff too.
It does look like eczema, that worsens when the weather is cold , heat is on, and with illness, a couple of the boys used to get it. My dr. recommended eucerin cream, at any local pharmacy and meijers, and it works great.
