A day at home

I know I've seen before on someone's blog, what a typical day at home would be like. I found it quite interesting being a mom in how their routine resembled yet didn't resemble ours. So for those other mom's out there that are nosey like me, here's our typical routine of a day at home (during the summer and times are approximate, everyday can be a bit different as you know):

5:30am- Jason leaves for work
6:00-7:00- Kelsey wakes up for her morning feeding then falls back asleep
7:30-Macey wakes up and watches either Barney or Little People in our bed while I get ready
8:00-Breakfast
9:00-Kelsey wakes up for the day
9:00-11:00-get dressed, play downstairs, color/paint, go for a walk, etc.
11:30-eat lunch-our new thing is to have a picnic downstairs on Macey's little table.
Noon- Macey goes down for a nap
Noon-2:30ish-I play with Kelsaroo, clean, make phone calls, or go on computer if Kelsey is napping.
3-5- This is when we either run to the store, bake, or get dinner ready.
6pm- Jason gets homes!!!
6:30- eat supper
I then do the baths while Jason cleans up dinner, Macey then watches a movie then Jason reads her a book in bed.
7:30-8- Macey in bed
This is when I wash bottles, fold clothes, pick up from the day while Jason showers, does homework, etc.
9pm-Kelsey is sleeping for the night
10pm- We're all in bed sleeping!

Picture Mania

Both girls are napping and I feel hesitant to move about the house, not wanting to wake either one since they need their sleep from past busy days. I've been editing some pictures from the past so I decided to post quite a few from the last few weeks. Here we go....

Macey is still obsessed with changing Kelsey's diaper. She does a pretty good job actually. Her favorite part is rolling the wet dipaer up and sticking the tabs around it. I know weird, but it keeps her busy and Kels doesn't mind.

Happy Kels with clean diaper on and tucked in shirt :)
Classic Mace, tired from a big day playing with her friends Bennett and Annabelle.
The only way to go about swimming with a cast on.
The girls hanging out with Bumpa at the pool.Watching Lisa's ultrasound at the revealing "sex" party. (IT'S A BOY!)
Good ole' happy Kelsarooroo!

Still determined to crawl, she can only figure out either her top half or bottom half.Big step for Mace, cutting the grass with Dad! Look she's driving it by herself! (don't notice Jason holding on below)
There it is! The Sold sign in the front yard....how nice.

goodbye cast, hello tears....

The cast is off! The x-rays looked perfect and it probably was healed about two weeks ago so she should be good to go, BUT we have one sad (possibly scared?) little girl. She was laughing as they used the scary loud saw to cut it off since it tickled, but as soon as the nurse removed the cast she started crying hard. We did start laughing because a small leaf had found it's way into her cast and was stuck to the back of her leg. For those that know Macey, her feelings get hurt quite easily if she's laughed at so it may have all started from that. She complained that it hurt, but they nurse said it was because it's just a weird sensation so that's why she's saying it hurt. She kept pointing to the garbage where they threw away her cast saying, "Put cast back on" I think she felt a lot more secure and safe with the cast being on. The doctor said there should be no pain besides possibly in her heel or knee as she starts walking again. Her leg that was broken is larger than her other one which is unusual and it didn't look too bad besides being more pale than her tan leg. Last night she was very sensitive and would cry at anything and would randomly say it hurt. I fear something is still wrong but know the x-rays looked fine. She keeps crossing her good leg over her bad to keep it protected without realizing it.
It is the next morning and she has yet to put any weight on it. She will scream if we ask her to. We're off to the beach here soon to sit in sand all day long and get her leg as dirty as she wants! Hope she enjoys this!

Here's a picture recap from yesterday.....

July 21, 2008

My mind is not feeling creative at this moment for a fun title as you can see. I am in the middle of packing up things today, but both girls are sleeping so it's time to sit and blog a bit.

First of all, ALL of Kelsey's tests came back normal which is a huge relief! So we can check that worry off our list right now.

My friend Erin and her boys, JR and Jacob came over last Friday to play. As you can see from the pictures, Macey loves this, but can be a bit in aew of what boys can do!

We went down to Colon yesterday to go through about 7 houses or so. Being such a small and older town there's not a TON to pick from. We are fine with fixing up a house to pay a lower price. We may have found the one, but we're still waiting to hear from the State with Jason's certification renewal before we put in an offer anywhere. We should hear by the end of this week we're hoping! I'm sure it will be longer, as this is all taking longer than planned. Until then, I just keep packing more and more so I don't feel overwhelmed right before moving. We will now close on our house not until around August 15 or so, this gives us more time.
We went to my friend Becky's wedding on Saturday night, which was beautiful. I work with Becky and our kids from class were involved in her wedding. They did a wonderful job! It was fun to see them all dressed up.

After one week of potty training, and only two accidents, we partially have it down. She only tells us about half of the time that she needs to go. She can hold it a LONG time and isn't always excited about going, but she's determined to stay dry. She only wears a pull up at night for bedtime, naps have been dry lately with undies on. At least I'm saving on pull-ups and she should fully have this down soon! I'm very proud of her :)
Macey gets her cast off tomorrow. This morning I asked her if she was excited to get her cast off and she said, "Yes, get blue cast on my other leg then?" I asked, "Would you want one on your other leg?" she responded, "Yes." She couldn't have minded this all too much then :) I am a little fearful of how her leg will look when they take the cast off. I hope it's not crooked or super weak and white looking. I will try to post pictures tomorrow of Macey "cast-free"!

Results

Kelsey had her tests done this morning. The nurse said she was the best patient she's ever had and that I should write that in her record book. (I hope I remember to!) We will get the official results either tomorrow or Friday, but so far everything looks fine. There was no backflow up to the kidneys and that would have been the main problem as I understand it. It will be nice to hear the official results though.

P.S. Thanks to Bennett for inspiring Macey to become potty trained. This could be it.....

IT'S SOLD!

Well the house is sold, we all agreed on a price and everything is signed. It's a couple that are getting married in August that bought the house. We close on August 1st and have to be out by August 10th. We feel VERY relieved since it's amazing that it was only up for sale for a month! We have nothing lined up in Colon as of yet, but are going on Sunday to look at several houses. We will most likely need to move in with someone or down to a cottage in Colon that was offered to us. So now I just need to start boxing up things since I know these next 3-4 weeks will fly by. Already today has been filled with phones calls to the realtor, GVSU, septic tank systems, and trying to find boxes. Any ideas of how to get boxes? I also realized this morning that I had no pull-ups for Macey so I asked if she wanted to wear underwear. She was quite thrilled about this. So far she's stayed dry and has asked to go potty once. The other time I made her sit. It helps that her good friend Bennett is mostly potty trained and she is determined to be like him. So she will say, "Macey wear underwear just like Bennett!" We'll see how long this lasts as we've tried this a few times already. Actually the last time was the day she broke her leg and it was going quite well, but I've put it off since. But today, I really just don't fee like going out to buy pullups and if she's interested, I guess I better try. Might as well get a few potty stains in this carpet since it won't be ours anymore :)

I haven't taken any great pictures lately, but here are a few. Kelsey is getting much stronger these last few weeks as she's rolling over both ways and is starting to do an army crawl forward. She also scoots her legs under her and pushes forward. It's quite interesting to watch as she's SO determined and really "thinks" she's crawling. Her other new thing is sticking out her tongue as you will see in the picures.

Look at my cool hairdo in the back!

Yes, Kelsey really DID spit up in Jason's mouth!
Typical Mace, biting her nails hanging out.

A huge sigh of relief.....

Yesterday was a great day! It was our 4 year anniversary AND we got a nice offer on our house! We meet with our realtor tonight about what to do now, to accept/counter offer, etc. Hopefully everything goes through and we can get this thing sold so we can start looking to buy down in Colon. With how the housing market is right now and our house has been only up for sale for barely a month, we feel blessed in knowing this is the direction that God is leading us. He's watching over us :)

Kels is crying and I can't think of a good title....

Kelsey has been feeling fine since her UTI last Thursday, which is great, but due to a positive culture test and her young age, she is scheduled for some more testing. Next Wednesday, she will have an ultrasound done on her urinary tract and another procedure where they will use a cathader to use dye in her system to see if she has backflow to her kidneys or see if she has a bilateral something? It's all quite confusing and the terms are way too long for me to use. She will have this done next Wednesday morning at Holland Hospital. Something I was hoping wouldn't need to be done but her doctor assures me it needs to be. Her doctor has been absoultely wonderful and has made several phone calls to our house to help explain things. Let's just pray things are fine and she just happened to get one rare infection.
Macey is dealing with her cast still just fine. Has gone swimming several times in her boat or just by putting one leg in on the side. Jason's parents are out camping for the next month, in Shelbyville (20 minutes south of here). Macey has already spent the night there once and loved it. They will be taking both girls this weekend as Jason and I celebrate our 4 year anniversary, which we are very much looking forward to.

Still no bites on the house yet. Just talked with the realtor today and he's going to be putting out flyers on the for sale sign. He said the website is getting a lot of hits but still no showings. In two weeks if still nothing, we'll have an open house on a Saturday.

Since everyone's been enjoying lists, and I like reading and writing lists, here is what's been the latest with our girls lately.

~Macey plays store, crawling around the house with her purse full of pennies, buying all of her toys or toys for Kelsey. She tells me she's going to either Meijers or Target then, says "Goodbye and I love you too Mom" then asks how much something is to buy. Sometime's her reply is "That's too much money Mom"

~Kelsey is a rolling machine, only from her back to her stomach. Then gets FURIOUS when she's stuck on her stomach within 5 minutes. She's only figured out how to roll back over to her back twice.

~Macey is addicted to Barney the Movie, and calls it the crazy boy movie or poop movie. A boy steps in poop at the farm.

~Kelsey has decided she hates rice cereal now and will clinche her lips together when fed. We'll wait on cereal for awhile :)

~Macey is obsessed with Bennett. Everything is, "Bennett likes that" "Bennett has that too" "Bennett says that" Good thing we're going to visit him tomorrow.

~Kelsey is waking up so I must be done.

Never a dull moment....

Somehow, someway, our girls like to get sick near Holidays. On July 3, at 9:30pm, Kelsey decided to run a 104.3 temp. It came out of the blue and she was shaking and breathing really strange. So off to the ER we went. (mind you this was the second trip to the ER in only 3 weeks). She ended up having a bladder infection, is on antibiotics now and is fever free and feeling a ton better.
On the fourth, Macey and I went out for breakfast with my side of the family to Russ'. Russ' always seems to taste great. Of course I got their blueberry pancakes like I always do. Mace picked toast and eggs. Went to Meijers to get Kelsey prescription which was one of their free antibiotics, so that was nice. Went to Jason's brother's house at night for supper and to watch fireworks from his deck. Brenda, Keith and Dolly came along too. Macey didn't cry for the fireworks (which I was expecting since she screamed at Coast Guard fireworks last summer), enjoyed them for maybe 10 minutes then said she'd rather go in to look at books. Figures.

She's my big girl....

Kelsey turned 4 months old today! She was very good at her check-up until the shots came. It was like she knew the shots were coming, they laid her on the table and she looked up at me and her bottom lip started to quiver before anything happened. She calmed down quickly afterwards and has been good to go since. She weighed in at 14 lbs 14 oz. (75th percentile) 26 inches long (97th) and her head was 50th percentile. I'm glad to say she's a very healthy little (big) girl! I spent this afternoon taking some pictures of her which is becoming more and more fun with her smiles, expressions, and her holding her head up more easily.

Here's what life at 4 months old is all about for Kelsey:

~sleeping approximately from 9pm-7am
~feeding all the time still-we need to spread this out and feed more at a time, any helpful hints?
~short naps around 9am, noon, and 5pm.
~rolling over from back to stomach and then getting frustrated because she's stuck-this has been happening early morning or during nap and it wakes her up because she gets so mad.
~reaching for objects and putting them in her mouth.
~sucking her thumb if not both at the same time
~drooling nonstop
~watching her sister's every move
~watching the Tiger's play at night in her bouncy seat
~still not sure about cereal
