summer days

What we've been up to the last few days.....
Running in our backyard,

helping dad on house projects,

a trip to a nearby beach,

and playing in the water table out back.

life in Colon

I never thought I'd live in a town where
it's an everyday thing to....
see a horse and buggy trot down my road,

or for that matter a horse, buggy, and boat....

or be given the chance to ride on a horse cart.

It's just no big deal here, but to me it is and I love it :)

"Hey Bennett, what you doing? Yeah, we're getting ready to go to Mark and Carol's too.... just packing up stuff then we're going. Oh really? Yeah I know......so are you going to ride on Jackson? Oh? Yup got that on our blog already."

We just can't get enough of making brownies lately.

Or eating them.

Macey is interested in taking

pictures lately, especially of her sister.

Here's one of her best tonight!

(I did not edit it)

Kibby Creek Camping

Jason practically climbed a tree to get this shot.
Our little dare devil.

Cousins.

On the tractor train.

"This is fun if the ball goes where you want it to."
(I should have posted the picture of her response
when the ball didn't go over the bridge)

Counting her money for penny candy.

Daddy teaching her early on.

Yummy stuff!

Where she hung out most of the trip.

"I'm full of it since I don't like to sleep while camping!"

Good times.

4th of July with poison ivy

Remember, our family has this thing with holidays: we always make a trip to the ER. Many fourth of July's ago, when I was about 13 years old, we were on vacation up north. I stepped out of my dad's fishing boat and got a fish hook stuck in my foot and had to be brought to the ER. This year there was no fish hook, but poison ivy. Jason woke up with both of his eyes almost swollen shut. He started getting red rash along his face and behind his ear. We debated on still bringing the girls to the 4th of July parade, but decided on a trip to the hospital instead. He was prescirbed some prednisone and is now doing much better!

After our trip to the hospital, Mace and I decided to walk downtown Colon for some festivities since we missed the parade. There was a lot going on, cake walk, silent auction, dunk booth, kid games, rabbit (elephant) ears, cotton candy, and more. Mace won a fish, light up pen and got some cotton candy. She had a smile on her face the entire time :)

She named him "Nemo"

Later that night Jason stayed home since he still wasn't feeling so hot and Kels was sleeping while Mace and I headed over to our friends' house to watch the fireworks. Quote from Macey, "These sure are beautiful!" It was a great firework show, not bad for a small town. :)

A few extras:

Say, "Cheese!"

Jason babysat the girls while I went out with the girls to see, "My Sister's Keeper" one night (super sad, I don't recommend seeing), and this was their movie setup before bedtime. I thought it was cute he even thought to take a picture to show me :)

Kelsey prouder than proud to be using a spoon.

Gotta love summer nights.
Hope everyone had a great fourth of July!
