November 30, 2008 (Happy Birthday Bennett!)

Quote of the day:

Macey reaching up to get some ice from the ice dispenser: "I will get some ice to help dad"

Me: "Maybe just let dad get the ice, I don't want it to fall and get in your face."

Macey: "Yeah, cause then I'd have to go to the doctor to get it out."

Picture from last week:
(I left my camera cord to download new pictures to my computer at Jason's parents' house, arg! But Mom Burgess is nice enough to be sending it out in the mail tomorrow)

Cute tongue, eh?

9 Months Old

In a few days our Roosey Roo (our kids will never know their real names) will be nine months old. I feel that she has jumped from 6 months to 9 months in a few days. She had her checkup early since we were in town and here's how she measured up: 100th percentile for heighth and 50th for weight. She weighed in at 18 lbs 12 oz which is only a few ounces more than her last visit, but the doctor thinks it's because she's been so sick lately and she's so active. He wasn't worried about her red cheeks, just said they were a little dry. Besides having to get some prescription diaper rash cream for a yeast infection due to antibiotics, she's good to go! She loved flirting with the intern doctor and showed off her strength by doing a full situp without using her arms while on the exam table. It was a good visit with NO shots :)

Here's a list to describe our Roo Roo these days at nine months old:

1. Loves giving her baby dolls hugs and kisses.

2. Loves giving her new cousin hugs and kisses.

3. Splashes as much as possible in the bath to make her sister scream.

4. Gives anyone that is giving her attention a squinty eyed goofy smile look.

5. Shakes her head no and refuses to open her mouth for food she hates.

6. Shakes her head no and smiles when we tell her "no"

7. Favorites toys: cable cords, electrical cords, cameras, remotes, stairs, doors, and Macey's Dora underwear.

8. She crawls and stands up along anything. Starting to try to cruise along furniture or walk with a walker, but her legs just don't know quite what to do.

9. LOVES music or any beat. She's quite the bouncer/dancer.

10. Adores her big sister.

11. Plays bashful and hides her face on Mommy's shoulder. (I love this)

12. Hates to get her pj's on.

13. Loves the Dora theme song.

14. Sucks her thumb and snuggles with her blankie.

15. Wears size 12 or 18 months

16. Needs most of her food mixed with oatmeal to eat it.

17. Is a terrible bottle feeder unless she's in a quiet room and is tired.

18. Has a Mommy, Daddy, and Sister who love her dearly!!!!!!!

my list ended up longer than anticipated :)

Quote of the Day

Macey while looking at a book with me about animals: "Mom, that is not poop, that is the pig's little tail."
Photo of the Day:
We don't need a gate, she is determined to figure these out on her own and she's getting there. It was more graceful than it looks in these pictures.

November 23, 2008

Quotes of the day:

Macey asked me this while flipping through my haircut magazine so I have no idea where this came from- "Mom, what do you like better? The News or Winn Dixie (the movie)?"

Macey while watching Dora's World Adventure- "I like China, I want a China outfit."

Macey says this to me while I'm making some coffee- "I need to wake up, I need coffee too"

ps. update on the pink overalls- Thanks to Karen for finding some while outlet shopping!!! She can't wait to get them. You should have seen her face when I told her about them :)
Picture of the day:

Does anyone know why Kelsey's cheeks would be THIS rosey? Are they chapped? They are usually smooth and soft to the touch. It comes and goes throughout the day.....she goes to the doctor on Wednesday and I'm going to ask him then. It started about a week ago and is getting worse.

November 20, 2008

Quotes of the past few days:
Macey while eating supper: "I think this carrot is giving me a tummy ache. I need something else." I ask, "What do you think will help your tummy?" "A sucker"
Macey smelling her feet and picking lint out before putting her pj's on: "Ewww, my feet stink. They smell like the vacuum."
Here's an example of one of the MANY questions I get asked all day long: "Mom, who do you like better? The scarecrow, tin man, or the lion?" (can you tell we've been watching the Wizard of Oz?)

Merek Anthony born November 17th

I had my stuff packed up and ready to go so when I finally got the call that it was time, I was out the door with the girls within probably 7 minutes! It was Monday night, her water broke in Walmart parking lot and it didn't take too long after that. So off I went into the blizzard like conditions. I was going 35 mph on the highway due to so many accidents up until Plainwell area. I dropped the girls off with the great-grandparents and the mom and I left for the hospital. When we arrived, she was almost a ten. She pushed for 30 minutes and Merek Anthony was born at 11:08. He weighed in at 7lbs 7oz and 20 inches long and looks just like his daddy.

Here are some pictures of the next day when we took the girls to visit. Macey is in love with him. She thought he was trying to talk to her and she was so proud she was so gentle with him. She also tried her best to protect him from Kelsey's curious hands. I tell Macey that he is her cousin, but she then tells me, "I can call him my friend if I want to."

November 15, 2008

Quote of the Day:

Macey was reading a book in her own words so I asked her, "Macey when did you get so good at reading?" She answers, "I'm older now."
Summary of our day:
Sitting at Jason's parents' house waiting for Lisa to go into active labor. She's been dialated to a 4 since Wednesday and has been contracting since Friday. She has just left to the hospital so we are waiting to take off here soon hopefully. She has asked me and her mom to be in the room with her (how exciting!). Besides waiting for her to go into labor, Jason and I decided to take Kels to the doctor since she's had a cold for 2 weeks, has acted fine for the most part but it just hasn't improved. Come to find out she has pnemonia :( Yup, they did chest x-rays and sure enough, and I would have never guessed it. Well, I need to make sure I've packed everything I need JUST in case this is the real thing. I'll update soon hopefully for those who are wondering about Lisa :)

November 14, 2008

Quote of the Day:

Macey- "How will baby JoeJoe get out of Aunt Lisa's tummy?" My reply- "Well...she will go to the hospital and the doctors will help and baby JoeJoe will be born." Macey still not happy with my response- "No mom, HOW will he come out?"

I have gotten asked this 3 times today....how do you explain this to a 2 1/2 year old? Help please :)

November 13, 2008

Quote of the Day:

Macey: (watching me clean the toilet)- "Awww, that's so beautiful" (referring to the blue water) "Be careful Mom!" (I guess she thought I might fall in? or get dirty? not sure..)

Picture of the day:

Macey had her friends Bennett and Annabelle over for an inside picnic today.

November 12, 2008

Quote of the day:

Kelsey: "Mama...Mama"

(She was yelling this at me as I was strapping her in her carseat last night which she hates...so she was quite upset as she was yelling this at me, but I was still thrilled as it was the first time she said it. )

November 11, 2008

Quote of the day:

Macey- "Mom, I have little biscuits, you have BIG biscuits!" (and yes she was referring to our behinds)

Picture of the day:
This picture is not from today because my camera is packed away ready to take off at any moment as my sister in-law should be going into labor any time now.
This is my dear child that is growing up way too fast and needs to slow down. The other day she tried standing up without holding onto anything, I wish I had a photo of the look on her face when she got up and thought, "Oh no! Now what?!"

November 9, 2008

Quotes of the day
As Macey and I are driving by an Amish gathering: "Mom, what are they doing?" "I am not sure Mace, what do you think they're doing?" "Umm...I dunno....maybe drinking some milk over there maybe....I dunno....maybe eating too maybe I dunno."
For those that don't know Macey, she includes the words maybe and I don't know in about every sentence.
(sorry another bathroom quote, but these are just the funniest)
As Macey is running to the bathroom: "Hold your butt like this mom, if you want to when you have to poop."
Sorry no pictures today, I didn't even get the camera out so that's why you get two quotes :)

Quote of the day

Macey, looking at what she had just done in the toilet: "Awww....it's so cute. It's little just like Kelsey's."

Pictures of the day
Anyone know of a good gate for a wide opening? I need one!

Quote of the day

Macey: "Mom, I want a pair of pink overalls."

(so if anyone knows of where I can find PINK overalls, please let me know)

Pictures of the day

After taking a bath and getting pj's on, she usually goes to bed, but somehow last night the thought of late night leaf jumping was a better idea..

Still more yard work?

Daytime leaf jumping.

We did lots of this today.

November 6, 2008

When I get the chance I am going to start doing a picture and a quote of the day so here we go.

Quote of the day:

Macey looking into the dishwasher with a very concerned tone: "Oh mom, there is my sippy cup, I was so worried about it."

Picture of the day:

This is called frustration. It happens when you crawl and both your legs keep ending up in the same pant leg.

Home Sweet Home

So here we are finally in our new home. It sure does feel good to be at a place to call home after moving 3 times. We closed on Thursday at 4pm, got the keys and came right here to see what we needed to do before moving in. We were so anxious to get moved in yet get some things done before getting all of our stuff here. So we left it up in the air to see what we could get done in a day. So between all the Halloween festivities on Friday, I called to switch everything into our name and to set up phone, internet, trash service, etc. Then Saturday was a big day. We are SO thankful for all the help we received from friends and family. (Another big thank you to Karen again for supplying the food for the day. I am still eating the bbq since we still have no food in the house and it STILL tastes so good!) We accomplished cleaning the house, ripping down wallpaper and moving all of our furniture from the rental to here. So just like that, we were sleeping here by Saturday night. Sadly to say, we didn't sleep well the first night due to Kels getting a cold which turned to croup (yes again) during the night.
Slowly but surely it is feeling more and more like home. At night, Jason will look at me and say, "This feels good." He's also glad to be driving 2 minutes to school and I am glad to be in town, walking distance to Elizabeth's, library, post office, bank and parks. We are loving the extra space this house gives us and have big plans for the future of what we want to do. This weekend the two lower bedrooms should be ready for painting and then we can't decide what will be next on our long list. Most rooms need just newer updated flooring and paint. The previous owners loved paneling and wallpaper :(
Well much is to be done around here since both girls are sleeping. Many boxes are waiting to be unpacked and much organizing needs to be done, it's just so hard when in one day you get internet and cable! So tempting to using both all day long.....

Macey enjoying handing out candy at Bennett's house while he was gone trick or treating. As you can see, Halloween is a big event in Colon!

My sweet pumpkin that just got done rubbing her eyes....poor thing got called a boy all night long :(

My darling fairy enjoying probably too much candy.

Halloween fun at library storytime. (yes, Kels was a cheerleader by day (easier for carseat purposes) and pumpkin by night)
