Jack-o-lanterns!
Tonight we decided it was time to carve our pumpkins. I let the girls pick out their stencil from the computer screen and I was surprised with what they picked out. They had witches, ghosts, cats, dogs, faces, and many other choices to pick from, but they were very set with what they wanted. Of course we had to bake the seeds which turned out so yummy, and then had to light the pumpkins with candles once it got dark out. (which ended up being inside since it was raining)

Look who's 91!

Trip to Saginaw
We took a road trip yesterday to Saginaw to visit our good friend Erin. The kids had a lot of fun playing, while us girls did a lot of catching up. I got to play around at Erin's studio in her basement with all the kids. It's not easy to get all six kids looking AND smiling. Thanks for having us Erin!

She makes me smile
A few lines from Macey today...... At the dinner table it was silent for a moment so she comes up with, "So...what are you thinking of doing tomorrow morning mom?"
The phone rang. Jason then later asks, "Who was it?" I answer, "Toll free call" Macey then asks, "Dad do you know toll free from school? Does he work with you?"
I am confused as Kelsey keeps saying, "Oz oz oz" over and over. Finally Macey yells, "Mom she wants to watch Wizard of Oz!" Kelsey then nods. Good thing I have a translator.
"When is Kelsey going to wake up? I miss her when she's sleeping"
"You're the smartest Mom!"
She was helping me look through old Taste of Home magazines for new recipe ideas. "Hey, here are some new haircuts for you mom!" I then said, "We're looking for recipes not haircuts today, remember? Her response, "But I LOVE this haircut!" (it was a really short haircut!)

It's not fall without a hayride!
My friend Denim, who runs a daycare, invited us to tag along on a field trip to Nottawa Fruit Farm today. Here's a few quick pictures of what the kids did!

Anxiously waiting.

Bundled up and ready to go!

deals! deals! deals!
Okay, so I am really Dutch, really really Dutch! I hate spending money and love deals! Down here in Colon we have discovered a very small salvage store called, Kuntry Corner Discount Store, owned and run by a local Amish family. It's on a dirt road with Amish children running around barefoot, horse and buggies tied up, and has no lights in the store. It sells food that is either damaged or slightly outdated. Besides food, they also have toiletries, medicine, hair products, cleanning supplies, etc. We LOVE this store and get so excited to go every week since they get new things in all the time. Salavage stores are becoming more popular and News 8 even did a story on it a few weeks ago. Here's a link if you missed it:
