Christmas Picture Album

Here's just a lot of pictures to sum up what Christmas has been like for us. I figure pictures speak better than my writing :)

Macey leaving out Santa's cookies and his big glass of milk. (she wanted to be sure it was a BIG glass for him)

Macey excited to see what Santa brought her, yet a little nervous that he was still going to be around.

Macey going to town on the gift and Kelsey just wanting to make faces at the camera.

YES! I got my baby doll!

The two things I wanted, a baby doll and her "stuff"

Baking away!

I am finding that making a list for my blog is a lot quicker and easier considering I'm a terrible writer so here I go:

The past few days:

*Kids had a fun Christmas party at Elizabeth's house last Thursday (see pictures below)
*Jason's game was cancelled Thursday night and had a snow day Friday so he is now officially on Christmas Break!!!!
*He is very ambitious and has been tearing down wallpaper and priming to get things ready for painting here hopefully tomorrow. Oh I can't wait!
*My job the last few days has been trying to bake in a kitchen that is a disaster from wallpaper being torn down and keeping the girls out of Jason's way (not an easy task!)
*Ventured to a busy Walmart today with -27 degree wind chill. Loading the groceries into the car was not fun!
*Kelsey is running a temp of 101.5 today and we're hoping it's teething since she's drooling and she never drools usually. No other symptoms besides some whining...?? Someone in our family is ALWAYS sick the week of Christmas...it never fails.

Here are some quotes:

Today Macey wanted to watch a Christmas movie so I was looking on On Demand and saw Barbie Nutcracker and of course she wanted it. I said no because it cost money. Her response, "Well I have money" I said, "You do? Where?" She answers while running to her dad, "In my dad's wallet!"

Before bed we asked Macey if she wanted to watch the movie Cars since it was on tv. Her response, "No that movie is for BOYS!"

Kelsey is starting to get in on the quotes as well. I may be making some of this up, but I am starting to question it everyday as I hear her trying to talk more and more. So this is what I *think* she said :)

I was changing Kelsey's diaper and I asked her, "Did you go poopy?" She looks and me and presses her lips together and says, "POO!"

Annabelle with the innocent look of, "I didn't try it yet"

They're looking too old.

Kelsey joining in on the fun at the table for lunch with the big kids and thinking she's pretty darn cool!

Loving the candycanes.

Very intense.

She has to do it all herself. Good thing her attention span is only for the first batch or two.

Making pumpkin bread and yes that wallpaper is now down!

Quote of the day:

We were watching Jason through the window bolt the doors shut on our sheds out back so no animals could get in. Macey was talking about what he was doing and then said, "Maybe a fox would get in there, like Swiper the fox (Dora character) or a polar bear."

Picture of the day:

A little bit of static in her hair.

December 15, 2008 (how is it the 15th already?)

Quote of the Day:

Macey was being very impatient after bringing home some candy canes from the store and thought they had to go on the tree the second we walked in the door. I told her she had to wait patiently while I unloaded the car. Her response, " Yeah, I not wait patient all the time, but Bennett he wait very patient." (she remembered from last week Bennett did wait very patiently for their lunches to be made)

Last night Kelsey was heading toward the two steps that we have leading down into the family room and Macey saw her coming. So Macey ran to get pillows to put on the stairs and yelled, "OH STOP Kelsey, you make me very nervous!!!!! I need to quick get you some pillows." Good thing we have Mace around to watch her little sister.

Pictures of the day:
I haven't had time to take many great pictures lately, so these are in black and white due to messy faces and bad coloring/lighting.

I love my dad home on the weekends! I know he just LOVES reading me all these Dora books!

Kels is in on the fun, pointing at her new favorite character, Dora.

Look at me! (the tongue out does help you stand better)

First game, first win

For those that don't know, Jason is the head JV boys basketball coach down here in Colon. It's my first year experiencing being married to a coach. He has his first game tonight and somehow I was more nervous than he was. Watching the teams warm-up and Jason out there, I thought, "How does he know how to do this?" It was one of those proud wife moments. I was even more proud and RELIEVED that they came up with a big win and I didn't hear anyone talk bad or yell at Jason (my biggest fear). So one down and many more to go :) Let's hope they keep winning!

Quotes of the day:

Macey before going to the basketball game: "Mom, I don't want to be on dad's basketball team, I don't want to go on the field."

(This one isn't a funny quote but it made me smile)

Macey singing along to her video- "Open the eyes of my heart Lord, Open the eyes of my heart, I want to see you, I want to see you."

Mixed Feelings about Santa

As you can see, the girls had very different feelings about Santa today. Macey has been talking a lot about sitting on Santa's lap this year. Usually she's just talk and gets too scared at the moment so we were very proud of her today when she actually sat on his lap with a smile and told him what she wanted! (I will add, BEFORE the smile and getting on his lap, it took Annabelle and Bennett to sit on his lap first.) Kelsey on the otherhand was crying as I handed her over to Santa. She woke up crying from a nap today (unusal for her) so I'm hoping she's not having nightmares due to this experience I put her through.

Macey telling Santa what she wants for Christmas this year.

Quotes, Pictures, and Events from the last few days......

*Kelsey stood for 5 seconds without holding onto anything

*Macey put a 24 piece puzzle together all by herself

*Kelsey did a face plant and bled quite heavily from the mouth.

*Kelsey fell backwards in the tub, had a terrible scare of being underwater for barely a second and screamed.

*Macey started screaming even harder because she was so scared for Kelsey. It took me longer to calm Macey down, she kept saying, "I'm just scared for Telsey"

*Took many fun Christmas pictures

*Macey woke up from her nap today and starting reaching up to touch her ceiling that slants down and said: "Look Mom! I'm getting bigger because all my running I do! Now I can go to preschool!"

*Macey while looking at pictures on the computer with me today said: "That color looks good on Carly's face" -referring to a headband (she might need to try out for Stylista next season, have you watched that show?)

*Made a homemade pizza. I'm still finding sauce and mozarella cheese around the house. I just cleaned some off her stool in the bathroom.

*We are enjoying the Christmas season so far. Macey is really into it all, helping decorate the Christmas tree, wrapping gifts, watching Christmas movies, sipping hot chocolate, and listening to Christmas music. I feel very lucky to be spending these days at home with my girls. (I do enjoy putting them to bed by 7:30 as well! :) )

Here's a glimpse of some of the Christmas picture taking that has been going on......

Jason's mom and sister made matching pj's sets for the 3 grandkids, didn't they turn out cute?

You will find that my Roosey Roo is very talented with her mouth throughout these pictures.

Aren't the pink overalls just great?

Quotes of the day:

Macey: "Mom, stop biting your nails! Damma does that too!"
(I think I maybe break this habit if she stays on top of me)

Macey talking to Jason as he's walking out the door to basketball practice: "Dad be careful, watch out for deer, it's dark out there!"

Me: "Macey, you can get your pj's on now"
Macey: "Oh thank you mom, oh thank you!"

Macey sweetly says to Jason out of the blue: " I love you the best dad"

November 30, 2008 (Happy Birthday Bennett!)

Quote of the day:

Macey reaching up to get some ice from the ice dispenser: "I will get some ice to help dad"

Me: "Maybe just let dad get the ice, I don't want it to fall and get in your face."

Macey: "Yeah, cause then I'd have to go to the doctor to get it out."

Picture from last week:
(I left my camera cord to download new pictures to my computer at Jason's parents' house, arg! But Mom Burgess is nice enough to be sending it out in the mail tomorrow)

Cute tongue, eh?

9 Months Old

In a few days our Roosey Roo (our kids will never know their real names) will be nine months old. I feel that she has jumped from 6 months to 9 months in a few days. She had her checkup early since we were in town and here's how she measured up: 100th percentile for heighth and 50th for weight. She weighed in at 18 lbs 12 oz which is only a few ounces more than her last visit, but the doctor thinks it's because she's been so sick lately and she's so active. He wasn't worried about her red cheeks, just said they were a little dry. Besides having to get some prescription diaper rash cream for a yeast infection due to antibiotics, she's good to go! She loved flirting with the intern doctor and showed off her strength by doing a full situp without using her arms while on the exam table. It was a good visit with NO shots :)

Here's a list to describe our Roo Roo these days at nine months old:

1. Loves giving her baby dolls hugs and kisses.

2. Loves giving her new cousin hugs and kisses.

3. Splashes as much as possible in the bath to make her sister scream.

4. Gives anyone that is giving her attention a squinty eyed goofy smile look.

5. Shakes her head no and refuses to open her mouth for food she hates.

6. Shakes her head no and smiles when we tell her "no"

7. Favorites toys: cable cords, electrical cords, cameras, remotes, stairs, doors, and Macey's Dora underwear.

8. She crawls and stands up along anything. Starting to try to cruise along furniture or walk with a walker, but her legs just don't know quite what to do.

9. LOVES music or any beat. She's quite the bouncer/dancer.

10. Adores her big sister.

11. Plays bashful and hides her face on Mommy's shoulder. (I love this)

12. Hates to get her pj's on.

13. Loves the Dora theme song.

14. Sucks her thumb and snuggles with her blankie.

15. Wears size 12 or 18 months

16. Needs most of her food mixed with oatmeal to eat it.

17. Is a terrible bottle feeder unless she's in a quiet room and is tired.

18. Has a Mommy, Daddy, and Sister who love her dearly!!!!!!!

my list ended up longer than anticipated :)

Quote of the Day

Macey while looking at a book with me about animals: "Mom, that is not poop, that is the pig's little tail."
Photo of the Day:
We don't need a gate, she is determined to figure these out on her own and she's getting there. It was more graceful than it looks in these pictures.

November 23, 2008

Quotes of the day:

Macey asked me this while flipping through my haircut magazine so I have no idea where this came from- "Mom, what do you like better? The News or Winn Dixie (the movie)?"

Macey while watching Dora's World Adventure- "I like China, I want a China outfit."

Macey says this to me while I'm making some coffee- "I need to wake up, I need coffee too"

ps. update on the pink overalls- Thanks to Karen for finding some while outlet shopping!!! She can't wait to get them. You should have seen her face when I told her about them :)
Picture of the day:

Does anyone know why Kelsey's cheeks would be THIS rosey? Are they chapped? They are usually smooth and soft to the touch. It comes and goes throughout the day.....she goes to the doctor on Wednesday and I'm going to ask him then. It started about a week ago and is getting worse.

November 20, 2008

Quotes of the past few days:
Macey while eating supper: "I think this carrot is giving me a tummy ache. I need something else." I ask, "What do you think will help your tummy?" "A sucker"
Macey smelling her feet and picking lint out before putting her pj's on: "Ewww, my feet stink. They smell like the vacuum."
Here's an example of one of the MANY questions I get asked all day long: "Mom, who do you like better? The scarecrow, tin man, or the lion?" (can you tell we've been watching the Wizard of Oz?)

Merek Anthony born November 17th

I had my stuff packed up and ready to go so when I finally got the call that it was time, I was out the door with the girls within probably 7 minutes! It was Monday night, her water broke in Walmart parking lot and it didn't take too long after that. So off I went into the blizzard like conditions. I was going 35 mph on the highway due to so many accidents up until Plainwell area. I dropped the girls off with the great-grandparents and the mom and I left for the hospital. When we arrived, she was almost a ten. She pushed for 30 minutes and Merek Anthony was born at 11:08. He weighed in at 7lbs 7oz and 20 inches long and looks just like his daddy.

Here are some pictures of the next day when we took the girls to visit. Macey is in love with him. She thought he was trying to talk to her and she was so proud she was so gentle with him. She also tried her best to protect him from Kelsey's curious hands. I tell Macey that he is her cousin, but she then tells me, "I can call him my friend if I want to."

November 15, 2008

Quote of the Day:

Macey was reading a book in her own words so I asked her, "Macey when did you get so good at reading?" She answers, "I'm older now."
Summary of our day:
Sitting at Jason's parents' house waiting for Lisa to go into active labor. She's been dialated to a 4 since Wednesday and has been contracting since Friday. She has just left to the hospital so we are waiting to take off here soon hopefully. She has asked me and her mom to be in the room with her (how exciting!). Besides waiting for her to go into labor, Jason and I decided to take Kels to the doctor since she's had a cold for 2 weeks, has acted fine for the most part but it just hasn't improved. Come to find out she has pnemonia :( Yup, they did chest x-rays and sure enough, and I would have never guessed it. Well, I need to make sure I've packed everything I need JUST in case this is the real thing. I'll update soon hopefully for those who are wondering about Lisa :)

November 14, 2008

Quote of the Day:

Macey- "How will baby JoeJoe get out of Aunt Lisa's tummy?" My reply- "Well...she will go to the hospital and the doctors will help and baby JoeJoe will be born." Macey still not happy with my response- "No mom, HOW will he come out?"

I have gotten asked this 3 times today....how do you explain this to a 2 1/2 year old? Help please :)

Macey: (watching me clean the toilet)- "Awww, that's so beautiful" (referring to the blue water) "Be careful Mom!" (I guess she thought I might fall in? or get dirty? not sure..)
