busy weekend, busy weekend ahead!

With Memorial Day weekend just ending, I'm glad to have a day at home with my girls. It's time to just catch up and get back on routine before another busy weekend. My cousin Rachel is getting married on Saturday and Macey is honored to be the flower girl. With a trial run of her hair this morning, I realized I need to get some cuter baretes than what we have in the house, dogs and rabbits on them won't fly. I still need to find myself a fun colorful necklace to go with my new black dress that I got last week. ($8.98 from Steve & Barry's!) My aunt is in town from Portland so we will be spending much time in Holland tomorrow, hopefully finding these two needed items. It sounds simple, but with two girls and working around naptimes (which I am trying hard to stick to this week so we have a happy content girl on Saturday), it's not such an easy task.
Brenda made a list the other day of "good" things that happened during the day, so that has inspired me to make a list as well.

This following list is called, "What I've realized this past weekend"

1. My little girl is no longer a newborn, and now a cubby little baby.

2. Macey is no longer 2, she thinks she's an adult. Asking to use Mom's make-up, using phrases such as, "oh because", "I don't like that book either", "I like that light brown horse, not the dark brown horse", going to the bathroom all by herself on the potty and telling me, "Mom go by Dad!" Macey do all by herself!" Where does time go?

3. I miss being pregnant.

4. Formula is WAY too expensive!!! I will be nursing my next child if he/she likes it or not :)

5. I REALLY like my new $5 stroller, even if it is way outdated.

6. I like 80 degree weather much better than 40 degree weather.

7. A house can get extremely messy even when you're never there and always on the go.

8. I love pampers swaddlers.

9. Macey needs to stop whinning very soon.

10. I kinda like doing lists like this!

Kels tuckered out at the park.

I only have time to post pictures today...

Well, I was going to do some writing, but I hear Mace just waking up from her nap. She went down early since we're going to my school today to visit. So here are some pictures from the last few days at least......ps. Kelsey slept in her crib last night from 8:30pm-7:30am!!! I think she's starting to like her crib :) thank goodness!
The two love taking baths together.
The thumb sure tastes good.....
Macey stop biting your nails!
"Hi, I like being on my back finally!"

Now what?

Well we had some great success of Kelsey sleeping in her crib last night. She slept from 10pm-just after 5 this morning. Normally she falls asleep a bit earlier and wakes a bit later but this was a HUGE step since she has not liked sleeping on her back since day one. She fed and is still sleeping now and it's 8:30am. Macey wasn't too fond of her sleeping in her room. When Kelsey woke up this morning at 5, Macey was just all curled up in a ball with her eyes open. She just watched me get Kelsey and didn't say a word. When Macey woke up then for the day, I asked if she liked Kelsey sleeping in her room and she responded, "Kels was crying." I told her that it was okay and that she was just hungry. Then I asked her if Kelsey could sleep in her room again tonight, she said, "No." I asked why. She then looked at Kelsey and then whispered to me, "Because." (it was like she didn't want to hurt Kelsey's feelings :) ) So now do we keep having Kels sleep in the room and wake Macey up? let Macey just get used to it? keep Kelsey in the living room? wait until Kelsey can find her thumb easier and put herself back to sleep on her own? move mine and Jason's room downstairs so they each have their own room? If you have any advice out there, send it my way!

She did it!!!!

From the day she was born, Kelsey's been working very hard at trying to find her thumb to suck. It's like she knows it's there, but she tucks it so very tightly against the inside part of her hand that she can't find it. Today she found it! She looked so proud of herself afterwards. I tried to take a picture with her sucking it, but wasn't quick enough. She found it twice today so hopefully, she'll be getting better at this as each day goes by. This will solve much frustration, as she wakes up several times in her sleep because she's frustrated she can't find it and a paci just doesn't cut it.
As a side note, the sleeping in the crib didn't work so well last night. She woke up as soon as she hit the sheets and Mace woke up as well. We'll try again tonight.

Our Sunday

Today was a typical Sunday of going to church, Macey going to nursery, getting cookies afterwards and chatting before heading home for the day. Since I didn't have too many options in the house for a Sunday dinner we decided to make tacos and rice for lunch. Mace went down for her nap and Jason and I took a catnap in the living room watching TV. I had Kels on my chest napping as well. The nap wasn't quite as long as we were hoping for as Mace woke up jabbering away, talking about how hot she was and that she had to take off her sweatshirt. More or less, she wanted it off so she could see her strawberry tank top underneath that she was so determined to wear. The rest of the day wasn't quite as peaceful. Both girls were a bit off, which it always seems to be when you're all home for most of the day. Somehow they're both better on the go. Macey wanted to dump out all of her beads after just being told not to, Kels wanted to throw up most of her bottles, but still was certain that she was hungrier than hungry. Needless to say, Macey visited the naughty spot a few too many times and Kelsey was held most of the day. Good thing we were both home today! It's easier to smile about these things when you're not alone. And after all the craziness and chaos somehow we find time to laugh. Kelsey did her first true laugh today for Jason and was still full of smiles. Mace wanted to clear the table like she usually does after dinner but tonight she also wanted to load the dishwasher with the dirty dishes so we let her. To our surprise she loaded it all correctly. Of course the Tigers were on the television, and Macey wanted her glove on. She got it on and put the ball in her glove and got ready to throw, lifting her leg WAY up in the air then threw it. She ran to the tv and said, "Macey lift leg just like boys on tv do!" (she was pointing to the pitcher) She may be trying at times, but for the most part she's been so full of it and comes up with the goofiest things to say or do.
Tonight we're going to try Kelsey in her crib, which is in Macey's room. It's time, she's been sleeping through the night for a number of weeks and wakes up now at 7am. I am nervous since she hates laying on her back and is used to sleeping in the bouncy seat in the living room. I will let you know how this goes......

Big Sister

Here's a video of Macey playing with Kels. Macey constantly wants Kelsey in the Bumbo seat, but as you can see she gets quite tired sitting in there for a longer period of time. It's fun to watch the two. Macey just adores Kelsey and Kelsey just stares and smiles at Macey. Enjoy the video. (Macey's singing the ABC's if you can't understand her :) )

More Tulip Time Action....

Since the weather was so nice today, Mom Burgess and I decided to take the girls to the parade. It's so much fun to see Macey's reaction to occasions like these. She really likes to just watch and take it all in. She was fascinated with the tubas and would yell, "Tuba" as they marched by. Maybe she'll play one someday? Who knows? Kelsey just slept through it all like she did yesterday. The girl must be growing since she's been sleeping ten hours straight at night lately (cross my fingers it stays this way!) and today she slept most of the day as well and is now out for the night already. We plan to head to the Saturday parade as well. I think it's the Dutch in us that just can't keep us away from this Tulip Time action!

Run!!!! I picked some Tulips!
"Look Mom, aren't you proud?"
Kelsey enjoying the Tulips, Macey checking them out.

ps. The Tulips were already picked, Macey just picked them up off the ground :)

Gotta love Tulip Time!

This past week, we've been spending quite a bit of time in Holland, enjoying Tulip Time. My friend Megan and her son, Braden came to visit for a few days. We made it into town on Tuesday night for junk food and pictures. We were able to make it to Wednesdays parade even though it wasn't the best weather. The kid still had fun and were well behaved. Here's some pictures of my little Dutch girls. Do you think Macey has grown from last year? She's wearing the same dress from last year, we just lengthened it a bit.

Making Cookies

I gave Macey the choice of going outside to play or to make cookies with me today. She choose to make cookies. Here's a short video of her full of flour!

Shot day :(

Yesterday was Kelsey's two month check-up and she had to recieve four shots :( I dread these days, since it's so hard to see the look of pain on your child's face. I will admit, this time around was much easier than Macey's first set of shots. With Macey, I wasn't prepared for the cry of pain and of course I cried tears for her. This time around, I felt more prepared after all the shots Macey's been given and Kelsey has alreadly had blood drawn for her jaundice. Kelsey was quite the trooper after the shots were given, had a few sips of bottle and was soon back to sleep. Our little girl now weighs 10 lbs 11.5 oz. and is 23 inches long. She fits in the 50th percentile for weight and head circumference and 75th for heighth. It's always nice to see that your child is healthy and growing at a good rate. After the appointment we did have to run to Target to get some juice for her since she's been having trouble pooing :( Since the appointment she's still been a happy camper and Macey was thrilled to see her Dora and Hello Kitty bandaids. I was glad the day was done.
