Back to School!

Macey started kindergarten on Tuesday! She has Mrs. Bower as her teacher and is excited to have some of her close friends in her class. On Monday night, she helped lay out her clothes, pack her lunch, get her backpack ready, etc. Then we read the story, "The Night before Kindergarten" before bedtime. She woke up a bit nervous and her belly hurt so she didn't eat much for breakfast, but she was still excited. Jason stayed home long to see her get on the bus so our whole family was out there when the bus came at 7:15. She hoped right on and took off. I of course lost it as she rode away :( It's just so weird for me to have someone else taking care of her all day and I have no clue what she's doing.

So far, we get quite a bit of information from her as she gets home from school, which is very fun to hear. I hear about which kids are naughty, what she's learned, if she had a special that day, what types of worksheets she did, who she played with at recess, and who she sat with on the bus. She gets home at 3:40 and goes to bed at 6:30 so I feel like I never see her. I'm trying to get in a little extra special time with my two still at home because I now realize how fast they grow up and are gone :(

Life is definitely different here at home since Jason and Mace have gone back. I try to keep the other two busy with fun activities at home and we start preschool next week twice a week. Storytime at the library starts back up tomorrow and soon playgroups will also begin. I'm lucky to have close friends that are stay at home moms as well that are only houses away so we usually plan "something" everyday or so. Today Savannah invited us to her dad's work for the kids to sit on and try out big tractors, trucks, back hoes?, etc. Then a trip to McDonalds for lunch made a fun day :)

Oh, Jen - I was hoping you would post about Macey's first few days at school - sounds like she's loving it so far, and that's great! - those first few days are hard on mom, though, aren't they? I can still remember. It takes awhile to adjust, but like you say, it's so helpful to have your friends around that are in the same boat. You are right to treasure these times with your girls!
