Now what?

Well we had some great success of Kelsey sleeping in her crib last night. She slept from 10pm-just after 5 this morning. Normally she falls asleep a bit earlier and wakes a bit later but this was a HUGE step since she has not liked sleeping on her back since day one. She fed and is still sleeping now and it's 8:30am. Macey wasn't too fond of her sleeping in her room. When Kelsey woke up this morning at 5, Macey was just all curled up in a ball with her eyes open. She just watched me get Kelsey and didn't say a word. When Macey woke up then for the day, I asked if she liked Kelsey sleeping in her room and she responded, "Kels was crying." I told her that it was okay and that she was just hungry. Then I asked her if Kelsey could sleep in her room again tonight, she said, "No." I asked why. She then looked at Kelsey and then whispered to me, "Because." (it was like she didn't want to hurt Kelsey's feelings :) ) So now do we keep having Kels sleep in the room and wake Macey up? let Macey just get used to it? keep Kelsey in the living room? wait until Kelsey can find her thumb easier and put herself back to sleep on her own? move mine and Jason's room downstairs so they each have their own room? If you have any advice out there, send it my way!

Hi Jenny,
Cute blog! I linked to you from Elizabeth's blog. I felt compelled to offer a bit of advice on your situation. My daughters also sleep in the same bedroom, and it did take a bit of an adjustment period for them to get used to eachother. Brynn was probably 8 weeks old when I moved her in with her big sister. It was really tough at first, but having patience really paid off for us. I'm sure Macey will get used to having Kelsey in her room, and Kelsey will never know any different. It will get better! When is Macey's birthday? I think she is my oldest daughter's age ~ 2 1/2 (December 21). Such a fun age!

Good Luck! Rachael

My plan once Judah is sleeping through the night (he's skipped the 2am feeding twice now! Yay!) is to put him in Eden's room after his last feeding of the night and set an alarm for myself to get up before his anticipated early morning feeding, at least until I think he's looking to push it off/ drop it. Of course I have no experience to share... :) I'm happy to have your experience to look to as I anticipate this next step myself!
