For those that are wondering, Taylie is pronounced:
TAY (long A sound) LEE
TAY (long A sound) LEE
This is how Taylie has felt about her first few weeks of life :( After her complicated birth, she came home and was content for about a week, then the fussiness started. After eating she would scream in pain and regurgitate quite often or have really thick spit up. At three weeks old she gave us a good scare. It was 10:00 at night when I heard weird sounds coming from her bouncy seat. I picked her up and realized she wasn't breathing and then her body went limp. After maybe 15 seconds or so she started screaming and we thought she was fine. Then it happened again...and again....and again....so we rushed her to the ER. They diagnosed her with acid reflux and said she had a choking episode. Since then she's been on medication and it's been slowly working. She had her one month appointment today and the doctor slightly changed her meds again so she should feel even better. Hopefully after a month she won't need the meds ever again.
Also, at 3 weeks old, she appeared to be quite jaundice still so she had two more blood draws to check her bilirubin again. It had gone up to 13.8 so we were told to put her in the sun as much as we could. Today her doctor said she looked great and doesn't need to be tested again. I am so happy she's growing well- weighing in at 8 lbs 3 oz and is 22 inches long. (she was 6 lbs 7 oz and 20 in at birth) Hopefully this acid reflux issue will be her last hurdle to overcome and she will be one happy feeling girl in a few weeks! Between her bouts of screaming, we are seeing more and more smiles on her face. Jason laughs at me, but I swear when I say the words "Moby Wrap" to her, she smiles :) It's currently her happiest place to be. Thank you to those that suggested I get one, because I'd be lost without it! Happy one month my Taylie Mae :)
