swimming lessons

Both girls started swimming lessons this past Monday. It was a week long program where they went everyday for 30 minutes each.

For Kelsey's class, I would get in the water with her to sing songs and explore moving through the water. On Monday she started off crying hard for the first 15 minutes of her class then calmed down and did great. On Tuesday, she didn't cry at all and loved singing the songs with movements and splashing. The rest of the week she did great besides enjoying getting dunked and floating on her back :)

Macey did not enjoy much of her first swimming class on Monday :( It's a class where it's 3 & 4 yr olds with a teacher and helper. The kids are asked to hold onto the edge in the deep end as long as they can until it's their turn to work with the teacher. Macey flipped out about this! She screamed and screamed, trying to climb out constantly instead of relaxing and kicking her legs. By Tuesday, she learned to trust her teacher and swam great with her. She still wasn't fond of holding onto the edge. By the end of the week, she held onto the edge for a good portion of the class, floated on her back relaxed and used her arms and legs to swim. She made some HUGE steps during the week :)

That IS a smile :)

dance class

Here are some pictures of Macey at dance class. The first day she was hesitant about the warm-up and stretches and wanted to watch on the sideline, but now she's a dancing queen :) It's been fun to watch her get more confident as the classes have gone on. Tonight will be our last class already. She's now asking for her own dance shoes because she says she's going to dance a lot when she gets older. We'll have to see? Next year she can take the tap/ballet class all on her own :)
I took pictures today at swimming lessons and will post those soon. Now that's another story :)

haircut

Last week Macey got her first official haircut! I have been trying to trim it up until now, but it's so long and THICK that I just can't do it anymore. Macey is a child that is quite fearful of many things and new experiences so whenever we talk about going to get her haircut at a salon, she refuses. I am very thankful for my new friend Denim who cuts hair and was able to come over to Elizabeth's house to cut both our little girls' hair along with Elizabeth's. (I will be next!) Macey was the first one to go and sat very quiet and still through the whole thing with no tears! Here are some pictures and the end result with a happy little girl!
